    International Projects and Partnerships

The Christian Democratic ideology places a large emphasis on international solidarity. Therefore, KrFU has a long tradition of international co-operation that is separated into two categories: co-operative projects and party coalitions.

    Co-operative project:

    Lebanon

KrFU has since 2019 coordinated a multi-party program for Norwegian and Lebanese youth wings. The program currently comprises nine Lebanese youth wings and eight Norwegian youth wings. The program is funded by the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (Norec), and is part of the grant scheme Democracy Through Partnerships. The program aims to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal16.7, which states that governments must ensure that decision-making at all levels are“responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative”. Youth are often underrepresented in decision-making bodies, which is the case in both Lebanon and Norway. Therefore, the goal of the program is to strengthen the youth voice in Lebanese and Norwegian politics. In order to achieve this, we focus on experience sharing between Lebanese and Norwegian youth politicians, cross-party collaboration, and trainings that contribute to strengthen our political skills.

    Party Coalitions:

KrFU is a member of Christian Democratic Nordic Youth (KDUN), a partnership between the Christian Democratic parties in Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Faroe Islands. Since 1970, KDUN has existed as an arena to exchange ideas between the Nordic countries. KDUN is a coalition that meets in the Nordic Youth Council (NYC), which is the organization for all political youth groups in the Nordic countries. The NYC deals with important questions that are relevant to Nordic Youth and lobbies for stronger Nordic co-operation.

KrFU is a member of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP). YEPP is the youth organization for the Europeans People’s Party, which is the largest party in the European parliament. This organization gathers around 50 centre-right youth parties from all over Europe and has grown to be Europe’s largest youth organization with over one million members. YEPP works towards including youth in important decision making processes at the European level, and towards greater democratization throughout Europe.

KrFU contributes to the work the YEPP is already engaged in, while at the same time lobbying for Christian Democratic values like love for your fellow neighbour, the intrinsic value of man, and good stewardship of nature. This gives KrFU the opportunity to influence youth organizations throughout all of Europe, thereby contributing to an increased focus on fighting poverty and good environmental policy.
